About Ferangeli Guitars

Ferangeli Guitar Handcrafter lineage started in the year 1919. Pedro Abendan started a small guitar shop in Lincoln Street, Cebu City, Philippines. Pedro makes, sells, and repairs guitars and banjos. He passed on his skills and business to his children, who then rebrand them under different business names such as Nely’s Guitar, D’Original Guitar Store, Custom Guitar, and so on.

More than 60 years later, Fernando “Andoy” Abendan Dagoc, the son of Nely, asked himself, “Can our guitars compete in the global market?”. The question sparked his research into lute-making, which revealed many areas that he identified as needing improvement.

Through this research and development, and trial and error, Andoy trained selected luthiers in Lapu-Lapu City. Andoy personally trained them in modern instrument-making techniques that luthiers worldwide now use. He moved them from their traditional way of making instruments to internationally recognized practices. He also introduced new techniques and procedures to them that were different from what they had been used to.

Andoy’s burning passion for creating high-quality, solid wood instruments that would be a testament to Filipino craftsmanship was the driving force behind the founding of Ferangeli Guitar Handcrafter. He dreamed of producing instruments that could compete in the global arena and represent the very best of what the Philippines has to offer. Our team of skilled luthiers has been able to create instruments that not only meet but exceed the original vision of what Ferangeli Guitars is about.

Ferangeli Guitar Handcrafter takes great pride in its long history of crafting Cebu’s finest handcrafted guitars since 1919.
